How do you fall asleep?

August 8, 2008 by jip9As many may know Chris Pirillo has been playing some music on his stream lately, I just happened to really like some of the music that he was playing. So what did I do? I took out the handy dandy iPhone, opened up Shazam: a free app available in the itunes app store, and let the app listen to the song. Sure enough the app knew that the song that was playing on the stream was Loud Pipes by Ratatat. I had never heard of the band before so I opened Rhapsody. I had discovered a great band thanks to Chris Pirillo! If you know of any other bands like this then send me a name and I will greatly appreciate it! My email as always is jp@jpconnors.tv
Apple is going in a new direction with their notebook computers
August 7, 2008 by jip9Yes that’s right Apple plans to redesign their notebook computers for sometime around this September. That means that if you are in the market for a new computer then I would strongly suggest holding out, for there seems to be much promise for a new design! Hopefully if all of the Apple news forums are correct then all of the notebooks will have an aluminum case. What this means is that the MacBooks will not be frowned upon because they are prone to getting scratches, marks and even discoloring on the keyboard and trackpad. I also advise you that this is all speculation and that nothing is etched in stone yet. If the forums are right then you can most likely expect new Apple notebooks being released around september that will be of reasonable price and of great quality!
No Paint App on a Mac?
August 6, 2008 by jip9Yes that is right there is no native paint application on Leapord! So you’ve bought an expensive computer that cannot paint, right? Wrong, There is a great app called SUMOPAINT that allows you to paint your very own master piece right in your browser. This app is still in it’s beta stages but It is moving along quickly. So if you have a great idea in your mind then express it using sumopaint. My favorite part about this app is that you can create a great project and not even worry about messing up. What I mean is that this application has a feature called layers. This allows you to do certain things at a time and erase just one layer if you messed up. Yes I know that you can use undo but that will only erase your last stroke, and lets be honest here sometimes that is not enough! This application runs very smooth and the features are great, so click on the link and try it out!
iPhone 2.0 software needs a lot of work
August 3, 2008 by jip9After about two weeks with my iPhone 3G I am pretty disappointed. I have installed many 3rd party apps and regularly they have been crashing and now they just wont work. I paid 300 dollars for a 16 gig iPhone and I am pretty disappointed with the 2.0 software . I am also upset with the app store, there is a ton of apps that just do not belong. I also feel that the Apple staff does a poor job trying to find good apps for their audience! It seems to me, based on the apps they have been recommending that they are reading the name of an app, and basing their decision on the name of the app. Well this is a bit of an exaggeration and I think that you get my point. If Apple is recommending an app that stinks and an whose capabilities are less than those of a native app then something is wrong! I also have to take into consideration that apple has never done 3rd party apps with the iPhone before but I think they could have done a little better!
Wallpapers
July 8, 2008 by jip9I just recently found out about an app called Desktoptopia, this application allows you to get amazing wallpapers on your Mac or PC. What’s even better about it is that you can use these wallpapers on dual displays and one display! The applications preferences menu is great, it allows you to choose one wallpaper for the two monitors or use a different wallpaper for both! You can add the application to your menu bar and use that to change the wallpaper, or configure the application to automatically change wallpapers on a time basis. The wallpaper that is featured on this app is amazing the wallpapers are created by real artists and it is a constant live feed! If you are getting tired of constantly surfing the net for wallpaper, then let Desktoptopia do the work, after all it is available for free at www.Desktoptopia.com
Slingbox
July 2, 2008 by jip9When I found out about the Slingbox I was instantly amazed, can I really watch an HD tv show on my computer that is coming from across the house? I guess I could go sit down in front of the tv, but thats no fun! Being able to watch/ listen to the tv in a window on my desktop is great. Instead of taking to hours out of my day and watching the tv I can now watch tv and do work at the same time. Hello 21st century it’s called multi tasking! The Slingbox is a little expensive but it looks worth it, work+fun=woooooo, party in the house, *no pun intended*. For around 200.00 U.S. I think I am in!
Have you tried the new Dew?
June 27, 2008 by jip9I myself don’t really like soda because of it’s excessive calorie content, but Mountain Dew did a great job with product placement. After trying the new Mountain dew’s I concluded that my favorite is the Revolution flavor. I also went on the website www.dewmocracy.com to cast my vote for my favorite flavor. I was suprised at the effort that Mountain Dew put into their new product. You can even create your own commercial using the different effects, audio, and video effects provided by Mountain Dew. Even if you are not a soda drinker give these new flavors a try and partake in the Dewmocracy experience.
Will the xbox 360 stop braking?
June 24, 2008 by jip9There you have it the question that may never be answered, will the Xbox 360 ever stop braking? Microsoft needs to step up and fix the problem. I purposely did not buy the 360 when it came out because it was from Microsoft. After about a month people started to get a “red ring of death.” I bought my Xbox 360 about a year ago and just today it broke. I thought maybe that if I waited then Microsoft would have fixed the problem, but no. I love the playing experience, the games, and the live experience, but the hardware is down right terrible. Why Microsoft, why! I also bought a Wii and I love it , Nintendo has never really had a problem with their systems so can’t Microsoft follow their lead in the reliability department? When the 360 is working it is the best system that I have ever had, but as you can see it is a little frustrating!
Ustream.tv
June 15, 2008 by jip9I have a lot of respect for Ustream.tv but not for some of it’s users. Why aren’t people entertaining their audience? I know that you cannot talk constantly, but could the people who are on Ustream make the room that they are presenting in nice? Personally I do not like looking at a dirty bedroom. I think that it is a disgrace that only a few people are making their audience happy. I know Chris Pirillo is. He has a great set up, and he is very good at reaching out to the audience and giving them what they want. There are some people who do a good job but I guess success in the live streaming business means that you have good people skills, and a nice presentable atmosphere for the viewers to enjoy
