How do you keep up with the release of your favorite shows?

October 4, 2008 by jip9

How do you keep up with new episodes of your favorite TV show? I admit I could not keep up with all of the new episodes of my favorite show, until today. Just today I downloaded an application called TVForecast for the iPhone, this application allows me to keep a page of my favorite shows and it will tell me when a particular show is airing. The app has a very good UI and is simple but nice. If your life is already busy then get TVForecast for 2.99 availible in the app store, You will be glad you did!

Xbox 360 Wireless Microphone Review

October 2, 2008 by jip9

I have recently recieved the Xbox 360 wireless microphone and I am not happy with it. I have found many problems with the microphone:

1). The comfort of the headset is terrible.

2). I cannot walk out of the room without the mic loosing connection.

3). The charging cable is extremely short.

4). The microphone is way over priced.

5). The audio quality is worse than that of the wired headset.

As you can conclude I do not recommend the Xbox 360 wireless microphone, and strongly suggest that you spend your money on something more practical like a new game.

Blue Snowball Microphone

October 1, 2008 by jip9

I have recently purchased the Blue Snowball Mic and I love it. The Snowball produces amazing audio quality and it has a sleek design. When I first looked at it online it looked cheap, but now as I hold it in my hand It has a nice amount of weight to it giving me the feeling of a high quality device. The Snowball ships with a metal tripod mount for the microphone which fits the design of the mic very well. On the back is a USB output port and a three position switch. The switch alows you to optimize the mic for various recording conditions. Another plus to this mic is that it has two cardioid capsules, one that records what is directly in front of it and another that records everything around it. The Blue Snowball works on both Windows and Mac OSX, which is great for cross platform podcaster/ artist. To sum it all up the Blue Snowball mic is a great USB mic for podcasters and Musicians alike, and will fit almost everyones budget.

Websites

September 6, 2008 by jip9

As of right now I do not have a website, because I spent all my money on a domain. A fellow tech enthusiast named David Di Franco tipped me off on a really interesting website builder. It’s called Square Space and it is very reasonable. If you don’t have any coding experience then Square Space is for you. Square Space has tons of templates for you to choose from and it just looks good. If you need a website designer that will also host your website then Square Space is for you.

Music

August 8, 2008 by jip9

As many may know Chris Pirillo has been playing some music on his stream lately, I just happened to really like some of the music that he was playing. So what did I do? I took out the handy dandy iPhone, opened up Shazam: a free app available in the itunes app store, and let the app listen to the song. Sure enough the app knew that the song that was playing on the stream was Loud Pipes by Ratatat. I had never heard of the band before so I opened Rhapsody. I had discovered a great band thanks to Chris Pirillo! If you know of any other bands like this then send me a name and I will greatly appreciate it! My email as always is jp@jpconnors.tv

Apple is going in a new direction with their notebook computers

August 7, 2008 by jip9

Yes that’s right Apple plans to redesign their notebook computers for sometime around this September. That means that if you are in the market for a new computer then I would strongly suggest holding out, for there seems to be much promise for a new design! Hopefully if all of the Apple news forums are correct then all of the notebooks will have an aluminum case. What this means is that the MacBooks will not be frowned upon because they are prone to getting scratches, marks and even discoloring on the keyboard and trackpad. I also advise you that this is all speculation and that nothing is etched in stone yet. If the forums are right then you can most likely expect  new Apple notebooks being released around september that will be of reasonable price and of great quality!

No Paint App on a Mac?

August 6, 2008 by jip9

Yes that is right there is no native paint application on Leapord! So you’ve bought an expensive computer that cannot paint, right? Wrong, There is a great app called SUMOPAINT that allows you to paint your very own master piece right in your browser. This app is still in it’s beta stages but It is moving along quickly. So if you have a great idea in your mind then express it using sumopaint. My favorite part about this app is that you can create a great project and not even worry about messing up. What I mean is that this application has a feature called layers. This allows you to do certain things at a time and erase just one layer if you messed up. Yes I know that you can use undo but that will only erase your last stroke, and lets be honest here sometimes that is not enough! This application runs very smooth and the features are great, so click on the link and try it out!

iPhone 2.0 software needs a lot of work

August 3, 2008 by jip9

After about two weeks with my iPhone 3G I am pretty disappointed. I have installed many 3rd party apps and regularly they have been crashing and now they just wont work. I paid 300 dollars for a 16 gig iPhone and I am pretty disappointed with the 2.0 software . I am also upset with the app store, there is a ton of apps that just do not belong. I  also feel that the Apple staff does a poor job trying to find good apps for their audience! It seems to me, based on the apps they have been recommending that they are reading the name of an app, and basing their decision on the name of the app. Well this is a bit of an exaggeration and I think that you get my point. If Apple is recommending an app that stinks and an  whose capabilities are less than those of a native app then something is wrong! I also have to take into consideration that apple has never done 3rd party apps with the iPhone before but I think they could have done a little better!
